General Notes

A large and colourful wood-rotting fungi that occurs in small groups at the base of dead trees, occasionally conifers from spring to early winter. The cap colour can be variable, from gold through to rust brown and deep orange. A poisonous fungi with toxins including hallucinogens, not to be eaten. Flesh has a faint fruity smell and a little stronger when cut and the flesh is bitter.
