General Notes
An attractive, robust, hardy groundcover or clinging climber with small crinkly, oval leaves and attractive copper coloured new leaves. Ideal for a living green wall, close, compact to the surface of the wall. Leaves on fruiting stems become much larger than the leaves on climbing stems. It can become a problem climbing into trees and slowly strangling them. It has become a weed in some parts of the world.
It has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit

- Ficus pumila var. quercifolia, oak leaf creeping fig
- Ficus pumila 'Curly', curly creeping fig; crinkled leaf form
- Ficus pumila 'Variegata', variegated foliage

- Ficus pumila 'Minima', small leaves, tight growing
Propagation Notes
Semi-hardwood Cuttings
Firm wood, tip, stem cuttings. Cutting approx. 75 - 100mm long with at least 4-6 nodes, remove lower leaves, leaving the top 2-3 leaves. Mist frequently to keep hydrated or place in a bowl or water.
1 part Cocopeat + 1 part Perlite
Keep hydrated during prep. Water pot of mix and thoroughly wet with Previcur fungicide. Dip end of cutting in Easiroot rooting hormone. Press gently using a dibber into pot of mix till cutting can stand by itself with at least the 2nd node and mix level. Mist frequently while continuing cutting process. Place on 21°C heated bed with misters. Maintain hothouse environment between 75-95% humidity and temperature between 20-30° C. Spray fortnightly with fungicide. Keep in bright but indirect light.

Fresh Seed
Collect fruit that is turning purple-black from the tree or off the ground. Place the fruit in a bucket of water and rub the fruit flesh off with your hands. Wash the seeds thoroughly to remove any flesh. Lay the seeds out on paper towel to dry thoroughly. Store in a cool, dark place. Sow as soon as possible.

Premium Seed Raising Mix
Fill the seeding trays with mix and firm down. Sow the seeds on the surface and press into the mix. Do not cover with mix as light is needed for germination. Place on 21°C heated bed with misters. Maintain hothouse environment between 75-95% humidity and temperature between 20-30° C. Spray fortnightly with fungicide. Keep in bright but indirect light. In tropical areas place the seed in a cold house or outside in a protected area, being careful not to wash seed area when watering, they can also be planted all year round.
