Cutting
Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar
Material Preparation

Firm tip cuttings or top section of young growth stem cuttings, approximately 40 - 50 mm long. Remove lower leaf sections at node. Mist frequently to keep hydrated or place in a bowl of water.

Propagating Mix

1 part Cocopeat + 1 part Perlite

Treatment

Can be slow. Keep hydrated during prep. Dip cutting in Easiroot, rooting hormone. Using a dibber, press gently into tray of mix. Water in with Previcur fungicide. Mist frequently while continuing cutting process. Place on 21°C heated bed with misters. Maintain a hothouse temperature around 21 - 25°C at plant level and hothouse environment between 75 - 95% humidity where possible. Spray fortnightly with fungicide and every 4 weeks with Seasol.

Strike Rate:-      Field Stock       20 - 30 %  (usually due to lack of suitable material)

                         Nursery Stock   60 - 70 %

Rooting time:- Field Stock         8 – 12 weeks,

                        Nursery Stock   6 - 8 weeks

Tube Mix:-       Premium Potting Mix

Premium Seed Raising Mix

Treatment

Mechanically scarifying by nicking each seed with a sharp knife or placing the seed between 2 pieces of sand paper on boards and rubbing back and forward combined with smoked water treatment will increase germination, can be difficult to germinate. Sow fresh treated seed, cover with mix, fine gravel, water in with smoked water, place outside, keep moist. Sow when night temperatures are cooler 6 -12 °C, mild day temperatures 18 - 22°C. Or if hothouse available, place on 21°C heated bed with misters. Maintain a hothouse temperature around 21 - 25°C at plant level, where possible.

Viable seeds/gram:-

Germination time:-  6 - 8 weeks

Pricking out:-          5 – 8 weeks into tubes after germination

Tube Mix:-              Premium Potting Mix

2 parts Premium Potting Mix + 1 part washed sand
